Tandem is designed to work without an account and to keep workspace information on your device. Connecting YouTube is optional.

Tandem stores workspace preferences in your browser’s local storage, including panel arrangement, selected modules, theme, volume preference, notes entered into workspace panels, and recently selected YouTube videos. This information remains on that browser unless you clear it.
Optional YouTube connection
If you choose “Connect YouTube,” Tandem asks Google for read-only YouTube access using the youtube.readonly scope. Tandem uses it to read your channel name and summary counts for playlists and subscriptions, and to perform YouTube searches on your behalf.
Tandem cannot upload or delete videos, edit playlists, subscribe to channels, or otherwise modify your YouTube account.
Access tokens
The Google access token is held only in the active browser session’s memory. Tandem does not place it in local storage or a Tandem database. When you search, the token is relayed securely through Tandem to Google for that request and is not retained. Disconnecting YouTube asks Google to revoke the token and removes the in-memory account information.
Third-party services
YouTube playback uses the official YouTube embedded player. Search and connected-account requests are sent to Google’s YouTube Data API. Your use of those services is also governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
Cookies and analytics
Tandem does not use its own advertising cookies, behavioral tracking, or analytics in this MVP. Google and YouTube may process information when their player or account services are loaded, according to their own policies.
Retention and deletion
You can remove Tandem’s locally stored preferences by clearing site data in your browser. You can disconnect YouTube inside Tandem and manage or revoke Google account access from your Google Account security settings.
Children
Tandem is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
